1. Quiénes somos y a qué aplica
Google) y nosotros no tenemos ningún servidor propio.
| Dato | Para qué | Quién lo ve |
|---|---|---|
No acceden a ningún dato tuyo. |
WAKE_LOCK y FOREGROUND_SERVICE |
No acceden a ningún dato tuyo. |

1. Who we are and scope
This policy describes how PentoMentis (hereafter, “the app”) handles data.
It is an Android application published by the developer amdev. It applies to
the app com.amdev.pentomentis downloaded from Google Play. By using it, you accept
this policy.
PentoMentis is a single-player block game: pentominoes (five-square pieces) and, if you pick it in the menu, a Classic mode with tetrominoes (four). You play through chained levels with no ending, and the app is free and funded by advertising.
It is a single-player game — there are no games against other people, no chat and no messages — and the whole engine, the graphics and the sound run on your device. But there is one thing in the cloud: the leaderboard, described in section 2.2. The game works offline: with no network you can still play, and the score is simply not published.
The app has no servers of its own: the table lives in Firebase, the Google service described here.
2. What data the app processes
2.1. What stays on your device and never leaves it
- Your game options: whether sound is on, whether you use Classic mode or the pentomino mode, whether 3D acceleration is on, whether you use gestures, whether you want the loading screen shown, and the camera setting.
- Your player name: the one you type to appear on the leaderboard (up to 12 characters). It is stored so you are not asked again. It is the only thing of yours that is also published, which is explained in section 2.2.
- Nothing else. The app does not ask for your email, your phone number, your age or any account.
All of this lives in an options file (opciones.dat) inside the app’s own
storage, and it is removed when you clear the app’s data or
uninstall it. The progress of a game (the level, the pieces and the score) is
not saved to disk: it lives in memory while the app is open, so if you close it
that game is lost.
One system detail, not ours: if you have Android backup enabled, Android itself may include that options file in your phone’s backup. That backup is managed by Google and controlled from your account settings, and it only carries the options above and your player name: no game and no other personal data.
2.2. What leaves the device: the leaderboard
For the leaderboard the app uses Firebase Authentication and
Firebase Realtime Database, two Google services. There are two
tables, one per game mode (pentominoes and Classic), and each of them shows a
single row per player, with their best game. The connection is encrypted (HTTPS), the
data is hosted in the European Union (Google’s europe-west1 data
centre) and we have no servers of our own.
| Data | Purpose | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| A player identifier: a random string generated by Firebase for each phone | To know which row of the table is yours and not create another one | The app only |
| Your player name, the one you type | So the table can name you | Public: other players see it |
| The highest level you reached and how many times you continued by watching an ad in that game | To sort the table: whoever got furthest first and, at the same level, whoever had to continue the fewest times | Public: it is the leaderboard |
| The date of that score (set by Google’s server, not by your phone) | To make clear when it was achieved | The app only |
Nothing else leaves the device. There is no analytics, no crash reporting and nothing resembling an account. The Firebase session is anonymous and is not linked to any Google account: your email, your Google name and your phone number are never requested.
The app sends the score only when you finish a game, and only if there is a name and a connection. If that game does not beat what you already had stored, nothing is written: your row stays as it was. And deleting it is up to you at any time, with the BORRAR MIS DATOS (Delete my data) button on the MEJORES screen in the menu.
And this is never requested or read: your email address, your contacts, your photos and files, your location, your microphone, your camera and the list of apps you have installed.
2.3. Your name is public: choose it with that in mind
The name you type (changed in MENU → OPCIONES → TU NOMBRE) is the only thing that identifies you to others: it is what appears on the leaderboard. So it is best not to put personal data in it: a nickname is better than your real name, your phone number or your email. At most 12 characters are accepted.
The table has no chat and no messages: you cannot write anything to another player, send them photos, speak by voice, and games are never played against other people. The only thing published is the row in the table above. If you change your name in the options, your row carries the new name as soon as you beat your score again; if you want it changed sooner, delete your row with BORRAR MIS DATOS and play one more game.
3. Ads (Google AdMob)
The app is free and funded by advertising served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited). There are three formats:
- A banner at the top of the screen, while you play.
- A full-screen ad every two levels, when you close the notice telling you the level is cleared.
- A rewarded video, which only plays if you ask for it: when you lose, you can choose to watch it to keep playing. The reward is starting the level you were on over again, and you can do it up to three times per game.
To display ads, Google may process data such as your device’s advertising ID and technical data (model, OS version, connection type and the approximate location inferred from the IP address). That processing is governed by Google’s policies:
In the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before requesting a single ad, through Google’s consent form (UMP) built into the app. If you say no, no ad at all is requested. You can change or withdraw that decision at any time from the PRIVACY button in the app’s menu. The decision you make is stored by Google’s own SDK, associated with the app and the device.
In addition, in the Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads) you can reset or turn off your advertising ID and delete the personalised ads Google has stored about you.
The app’s ads are not directed at children and we ask for no data of yours to show them. There are no in-app purchases: nothing is paid for here. We use no other analytics or measurement tool either: the only third party processing data in the app is Google, as the ads provider and as the leaderboard service.
4. Permissions the app uses
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
To load ads and to read and write your leaderboard row. These are the only two permissions the app declares on its own; the game itself does not need them, because everything else happens inside the phone. |
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID |
Advertising identifier, requested by the ads SDK (see section 3). |
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION and
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS |
Added by Google’s ads SDK (Android Privacy Sandbox). They access no data of yours. |
com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES |
Added by the Firebase library, which is the leaderboard one: it uses it to check which version of Google services is on the phone. It gives access to no data of yours and to no account. |
WAKE_LOCK and FOREGROUND_SERVICE |
Added by Google’s libraries so the phone does not sleep while an ad is loading or playing. They access no data of yours. |
com.amdev.pentomentis.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION |
An internal permission added by Gradle for messages inside the app itself. It gives access to nothing. |
The app requests no storage, location, contacts, camera or microphone permission, it does not ask for notifications, and it does not even ask to vibrate: the game’s notices are shown inside the screen itself while you have it open.
5. Children
The app is not directed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect data from any child. It is a family block game, but it is funded by ads and publishes a leaderboard, so if a child plays on your device, do so under your supervision. There is nothing social beyond the table: no chat, no messages and no games against other people. The only thing published about them is the name they type — which is why a nickname is a better idea than their real name — and it can be deleted from the app itself.
6. Retention and deletion
Almost everything is on your phone. What section 2.1 describes is removed with Settings → Apps → PentoMentis → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
Your leaderboard row is the only thing kept outside. It stays in Firebase until you delete it: the row remains published even if you stop playing, and no deadline removes it on its own. Deleting it is up to you and is done from the game itself, with the BORRAR MIS DATOS button on the MEJORES screen, which deletes the row of the mode you are viewing (do it on both tabs if you want to disappear from both tables). You can also ask us by email.
- If you had Android backup enabled, you can also delete that backup from your Google account settings.
- What Google stores to serve ads, and your consent decision, follow the retention periods in Google’s policy.
7. Your rights
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability by writing to amdevelopersoft@gmail.com.
In this app there is little data and you control it from the game itself. In practice:
- Delete everything local. Clear the app’s data or uninstall it. That wipes every stored option.
- Delete your leaderboard row. With the BORRAR MIS DATOS button on the MEJORES screen in the menu, on each of the two tabs. If you would rather we did it, write to the contact email.
- Change your name. In MENU → OPCIONES → TU NOMBRE. Your row carries the new name as soon as you beat your score again.
- Ad consent. Through the PRIVACY button in the app’s menu, when the law requires it to be changeable.
- The advertising ID. You can reset or turn it off in the Android settings, under Settings → Google → Ads.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
8. Security and changes
Communications with Google (the leaderboard, the ads and the consent notice) always use an encrypted connection (HTTPS). The leaderboard database is hosted in the European Union and its rules only let each player write their own row; anyone using the app can read it, because the table is public by nature.
What the app stores on your phone lives in its internal storage, which the operating system isolates from other applications. And of what is stored outside, the only thing that can identify you is the name you typed yourself: the level, the continuations and the date say nothing about who you are.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same address with a new date.
